Shure Motiv MV7 -USB/XLR Microphone, Black (MV7-K)

When you need high-quality sound for your podcast, the new Shure MV7 microphone is a great choice, regardless of the recording hardware. Developed alongside the SM7B microphone, the MV7 functions as both a USB microphone and a traditional microphone via the XLR connection.

Like its role model, the MV7 is a dynamic microphone in a metal, tubular housing with the familiar metal buckle mount. A new, more sensitive capsule has been developed for the MV7 microphone, which does not require as much amplification as when using the SM7B XLR connection. Depending on the sound source, the MV7 typically operates in a gain range of about 35 dB, which is also well suited for the preamps of more affordable sound cards.

When using the USB connection, the MV7 has, among other things, Auto Level Mode, which makes it easy to adjust the correct recording level. Built-in DSP processing provides the most common tools for recordings: a three-position equalizer and compressor, as well as a separate limiter ensure that sound is not distorted and stays clear. The DSP is easiest to control with the ShurePlus, like the rest of the Motiv series, but the basic settings can also be accessed from the microphone's own touch controls. Bypassing the DSP is also, of course, possible if you want to do the processing later in the storage program. With a USB connection, the maximum SPL level of the device is 132 dB, and the conversion takes place with a resolution of 16 or 24 bits. The microphone also has a headphone amplifier for latent signal monitoring.
