A superior cleaning tool, photocatalytic oxidation

Airocide uses photocatalytic oxidation to remove organic compounds from indoor air and destroy mould, bacteria and viruses by breaking them down inside the unit.

The reaction chamber of the device contains hundreds of small glass tubes coated with titanium dioxide (Ti02), which are activated by UV light, causing a strong catalytic reaction with air. In other words, when harmful particles in the air come into contact with the glass tubes, the reaction of the catalysts destroys them while producing clean, fresh air.

Technology developed for the space station

Airocide technology dates back to the mid-1990s, when it was developed by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin's Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics for the International Space Station (ISS). NASA's patented Airocide nanoparticle technology is superior to other air purification technologies such as HEPA, ionisation, electrostatic precipitation and activated carbon filtration.
