Pokémon Legends: Arceus honors the basic concept of previous Pokémon games while adding new features focused on action and role-playing. This adventure takes you to the Sinnoh region, which you may also know is the region of Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. But this story takes place in an era when knowledge of Pokémon trainers or how to organize a Pokémon league didn't even exist. You'll find Pokémon living wild in harsh conditions that will give you a picture of Sinnoh that might not be entirely like what you might remember from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl.

Catch Pokémon in this game by observing them to learn how they behave, then sneak carefully, aim with a Poké Ball and throw! You can also have a Pokémon you've befriended fight against wild Pokémon to catch them more easily. All you have to do is toss a Poké Ball containing your allied Pokémon near a wild Pokémon and you'll jump straight into battle and have your allied Pokémon perform the attacks they've learned.

When you begin your quest to create the region's first Pokédex, you can choose one of the following Pokémon as your partner: Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott. These three Pokémon arrived with the Pokémon Professor, who managed to collect them while exploring different areas.
