With Beurer's PO 40 pulse oximeter, you can easily measure the amount of oxygen (SpO2) in your blood and your heart rate. Oxygen saturation tells you what percentage of the arterial hemoglobin is bound by oxygen. It is therefore an important parameter in the assessment of respiratory function. Oxygen saturation decreases mainly as a result of various diseases (respiratory diseases, asthma, heart failure, etc.). People with low oxygen saturation often experience the following symptoms: shortness of breath, increased heart rate, decreased performance, nervousness, and sweating. Chronic, observed low oxygen saturation should be monitored with a pulse oximeter itself according to your doctor's instructions. The pulse oximeter is therefore particularly suitable for people at risk, such as those with heart disease or asthmatics, but also for athletes and healthy people who exercise at high altitudes (eg mountaineers, skiers or sport pilots).
